MDSW fest and Preparing for Summer Sock Camp

Listen to “MDSW fest and Preparing for Summer Sock Camp” on Spreaker.

I can’t believe I don’t have more pics of Oscar’s sock knitting journey. This is him beginning the cuff. He’s already knit the heel turn now and is waiting for me to show him how to pick up stitches for gusset.
I can’t get enough of this boy. On this episode of the podcast I’m on my way home from visiting with  my dear friend Bethany and her firstborn in PA. I talk about friendship and what I value so much about the time I spend with her. I hope to see the whole fam again next month.

Off the needles?

Nada thing.

On the needles?

Wool Needle Hands episode on archiving projects

I archived my Sailor Swift Top, my Frankensweater, the Coming Home blanket and the lace socks I was knitting in Nordic wool.

I’m currently working on the Salty Air  Tee

I pulled the Sailor Swift Tank out of the archives so I can have it ready for our anniversary trip in early June.

Colors more accurate here. Listen to podcast for my concerns about sizing.

And I’m still knitting Adam’s socks….the most legit sock I’ve ever knit.

After seeing vendors selling handknits socks at MDSW, I’m inspired to do the same–eventually. But I want to first supply me and Adam with a good amount of socks so we’re aren’t just wearing the same couple and wearing them out.

Would you purchase handknits socks? I plan to start with DK cozy shorties, knit up in Nordic wool. Pretty unique right? And your toes would thank you this winter.

Handknit socks are the absolute best. Period.

Cotton Socks for my friend!

Excuse the filter please.

Cable Rib Socks knit up in Cascade Cotton Sox. This yarn is so yummy. It’s Cotton and nylon. I would love to use it in a sweater or tank one day. I’m not working on these as much because I want to finish my summer garments before the beginning of Summer Sock Camp, which is a Knit-a-long (KAL) that begins Friday, May 24. (Since recording, it’s clear I won’t finish in time. So my goal will just be to finish tank by June 5 and to focus mostly on socks starting this Friday).

Summer Sock Camp 2024

This is led by Kayla Litton (the crazy sock lady). I love her podcast and decided to join her KAL. Not just knitting socks like crazy but also participating in the postcards group. I have three pen pals so far. Listen to the episode to hear how I’m doing it.

Maryland Sheep & Wool Acquisitions

I know. I know. Yarn fast?

Well I sold yarn in order to buy yarn and I feel really good and responsible.

I plan to use this for a hat
That sample sold me. Can’t wait to knit this up for Summer Sock Camp. The
pattern is called Cherry Swirl
